Reflecting With Ellington.

Reflecting With Ellington.

A Poem by Terry Collett

Duke Ellington
was being played
On the hifi
In the next room
It sounded quite old
Trudging beat
A trumpet solo
Followed by a trombone
Then saxophone.

I recall her that
Long ago
Summer day
Sitting by the pond
Relaxing in the shade
Beneath the trees above.

A solo muted trumpet
Sound pushing through
They wall.

She died so her
Young brother told.

I recall our first kiss
And the winter cold
