The Moments Captured.

The Moments Captured.

A Poem by Terry Collett

A bottle of water
stands on the window ledge.

Music by Wes Montgomery
plays on the hifi
in the room downstairs,
the guitar cool and swift.

I remember Rennie
sitting beside me
at the back of the classroom
whispering about the girl
at the front who
had the best fruits.

No birds
on the back lawn.

A skinny fox
walks the grass
for food and finding none
walks away.

I recall the first kiss
and winter cold
and her warmth.

The guitar plays fast
and a drummer alternates.

The sky is a dull grey
and the buddleia
is in full bloom.

I remember a summer day
and she and I lying
on the grass talking
and the occasional kiss
and butterflies
fluttering past.

She is gone now
cancer claimed.

A bird flies over the sky
caught out of the corner
of my aged eye.

I’m sorry for your loss

I can begin to feel your connection here, but I think you can condense and clarify with some more personal imagery. I think you are seeking to put this in a framing device, that separation could also be clearer.
