Remembering Juliet.

Remembering Juliet.

A Poem by Terry Collett

The church is still there
where we stole a few moments
away from others
to kiss and embrace.

The same bell chimes
to give the time of day.

The churchyard still contains
the dead who lie
as they did then.

But you are not here
as once you were,
death as taken you
some other place,
where I do not know
so cannot bring you
flowers there.

But I can remember you and I
beneath an evening sky
embracing and kissing.

Time brings back,
momentarily,
what we feel missing.

This is so soft and sorrowful — the kind of poem that doesn’t shout, but lingers.
