You Too Were Beautiful.

You Too Were Beautiful.

A Poem by Terry Collett

You too
were beautiful
as she is.
You too
had such fine wavy hair
and lips red as any rose of such.
You too had eyes that shone
with the excitement of youth.
You too had a figure
that men would look at and dream.
But then you became old
and your beauty faded
with the years
and your hair
became grey and tired
and lips became less red
and seemed less rose-like
as years moved on
and slowly past you by
and took the brightness
from your once excited eyes
and you realised too late
all beauty dies.
