Geoffrey One Saturday Morning 2024.A Poem by Terry CollettHe lights his first cigarette of the day, inhales, gazes at the passing crowds who pass him by outside the coffee shop. The summer sun warms him. He sips the iced coffee the barista brought out to him some moments past. His late wife would not have sat beside him here she disliked coffee and crowds. But he can sit and smoke and sip coffee to his heart's content. He exhales and smiles and notes the passing girls too young now to move his limbs or mind. He sits sipping the iced coffee like one blind.
