Satie and Memories.

Satie and Memories.

A Poem by Terry Collett

Satie is playing
on the radio.

Someone coughs.

No birds come
on the lawn.

The sky is
a watercolour blue.

She sat next to me
on the beach
watching the sun go down.

The moon seemed to sit
on the sea's horizon.

Back at the cheap hotel
our bed awaited
our closeness.

A ginger cat sits
on the lawn
waiting for birds
that do not come.

She lit us cigarettes
and we sat smoking
as the day drifted
out to sea.

Now she is no more
and there is just
a different dawn
and me.
