Recalling Dreams.

Recalling Dreams.

A Poem by Terry Collett

That country lane
is empty now
and the hedgerows
are empty of birds.
No cows call
from distant fields.
A few grey clouds
drift across the sky.
No church bells toll
across the hamlet's hold.
In dreams she wanders
the country lane
waiting for me again
and a winter cold
embracing the morning's sky.
In dreams we walk
the country lane
and listen as birds sing
from bustling hedgerows
and cattle call across
the nearby fields
beneath a summer sky.
The dream dissolves
and you are gone
and there are just the dreams
and an ageing person
called I.
