Alone On The Beach.

Alone On The Beach.

A Poem by Terry Collett

He stands along now
on the night time beach,
the same moon shines
as it had back then,
and maybe
the same stars twinkled.
But she was no more
standing beside him
on that deserted shore.
He lights a cigarette
and inhales.
The dark horizon
holds up a full moon
over a moving sea.
In his mind
he hears the Chopin piano play
as it had that evening
in the cheap hotel
they paid to stay.
He feels
her ghostly presence
there momentarily,
a ghostly hand holds his,
then it has gone
and he stands
alone once more
on the deserted shore.
