The Final Gaze 1975.

The Final Gaze 1975.

A Poem by Terry Collett

I saw you last
buying flowers
in a florists.
I passed by
and you didn't see me
gazing at you
as I passed.
The previous summer
I had a crush on you
thinking it love
feeling ill
if I didn't see you
for a day or more.
I walked by
giving you the last gaze
taking note
of your slim body
and soft brown hair
and noting the illness had gone
and walked on into tomorrow.
Who you were buying flowers for
I didn't know and didn't care.
I just went past
giving you
the final stare.
