Memory of Juliet 1962.A Poem by Terry CollettThat day in summer, us sitting in the field of tall grass discussing out lives after school was done. Nothing planned, no real goals set out, just the sense of freedom from the classroom. I sit sipping coffee, listening to Chopin, thinking of that long ago summer, your voice on the air, your laughter, your laughing eyes. All beauty blooms and fades and dies. I see you still sitting there, captured in a memory, although in truth you are no more, cancer stole you away they say, but in memory, that summer, that field of tall grass, you remain untouched, your laughter in the air, if I sit sipping coffee, listening to Chopin, it's just you and me.
