Jane And Memories 2021.A Poem by Terry CollettShe sits in the small church where they once sat, she talking to him about the simplicity of the inner church, the plain wooden pews, the small bronze cross at the altar end, and he talking of the city he had just left behind, getting all the business off his young mind, she sensing her body's awakening, his voice and presence making tingling in her spine. Now she sits remembering young love, how it came that spring, grew in summer, but then his father changed his job and they moved away for ever and a day. She closes her ageing eyes and smells the flowers she brought to the church and the fragrance reminds her of him that year six decades ago and the coming of winter and falling snow.
