I Can't Begin.

I Can't Begin.

A Poem by Terry Collett

I can't begin
to know how you felt
the day he left you
without word or hint,
just left you to wonder
where he'd gone and why.
No word from him,
no phone call or letter,
no message to inform
of why it had to be that way
no warning that morning.
All day wondering,
mind upset and worried sick,
but days came and went
and not a word.
Then on the fourth day
he rang and said he was in London
working in a bar
and rented a room
and said it was over
and he wouldn't return.
I can't begin to understand
why he left as he did
and how without word or warning
that warm summer morning.
