¿Qué opinas de Madrid? 1970

¿Qué opinas de Madrid? 1970

A Poem by Terry Collett

What do you think
about Madrid?
the young Spanish waitress
asked after she took
our order at the cafe.

I love it
Miriam said
and I concurred
smiling at the bright-eyed waitress.

She walked away
and I admired her body's sway.

Do you have to stare so
at other females
when I am with you?
Miriam said annoyed.

I may have a Monet art work
but I can admire a Goya beauty
as it catches my eyes.

She sipped
the white rum
and coke.

I glazed at her
curly red hair
and blue pearls for eyes
and smiled.

Do you want me
to be a monk?

No but faithful
she replied.

I looked at her later
eyeing a young
dark- haired waiter
as he passed our table.

I guessed in her dreams
she would want him
in her bed
if she were able.
