Geoffrey After A Friend's Funeral 2025.A Poem by Terry CollettAfter the funeral of an old friend Geoffrey attended the wake in the church hall. He sat at a corner table with other friends he'd not seen in a while. Small talk and soft laughter about earlier times. But he felt out of it, felt like going home to his empty house and sit in his armchair and pour a whiskey and a light a cigarette and put on the Debussy record his late wife bought him and sit listening wishing she was there still, that togetherness, that loss instead which he doesn't want to feel.
