In Some Night Dreams.

In Some Night Dreams.

A Poem by Terry Collett

In some night dreams,
my son, I wander
the hospital corridors
in search of you.
No one else walks,
just me walking
the artificial lit corridors,
hoping to find you there.
But you are not to be found,
just the silence of night,
and my eyes search
the dim lit corridors and corners,
wanting to see you
alive not dead,
want you for real
not just a memory
in my ageing head,
to hold you close
one more time before I wake.
But nothing except
the dim-lit corridors
of the hospital
in which you died,
no words or whispers,
just the undisturbed silence
in a dream,
and the absence of you,
no more
to embrace you close
nor gaze
into your calm,
smile face.
