Juliet That's All Gone Now.

Juliet That's All Gone Now.

A Poem by Terry Collett

All that is gone now,
at least time.
The church and the cemetery
are still there,
but you are not,
just shadows of you
where we once stood
and looked at the headstones
and legends and dates.
The afternoon sun sets
among the graves
and over the church.
Time passes,
shadows remain,
memories open,
and for a moment
you are there
and we are young
and the sun
that
we think
belongs to us,
but then it is gone,
and the afternoon sun weakens,
and I stand
and remember you
among the graves, your smile.
Now you rest
in your grave
in a place I do not know,
and the evening comes
like a flowing, soft sea.
