Time To Leave It Behind

Today is the day.

To bury and leave my past behind me,

As I leave it all behind me.

Letting go as I take off,

Heading for the sky above.

So long my old self,

I say as I shed my skin

And reveal the colors beneath.

Blue as the Caribbean,

Red as a rose,

As purple as lilac,

Green as a meadow.

And as yellow as the sun.

This is a beautiful poem. It reminds me of the Phoenix bird but with more colors. The last stanza is such a fitting end to the first one. You provide a nice build-up in the first stanza and the entire writing has a great reading flow.
