ScarsA Story by Gary West
Scars are ugly.
They mar, they disfigure, and they mutilate. They invoke disgust and distrust in people who see them, as though they are the marks of dreadful secrets and horrid sins. But is that all? You see, scars paint pictures, spell words, tell stories. They testify to the trials and tribulations through which a person has come, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They are a legend to the map of one's life. They speak of an individual’s endurance to last through the difficulties and their tenacity to continue on. They are a legacy. Scars are beautiful. I am scarred. © 2014 Gary West |
