Oh My CountryA Poem by TexasThis poem won first place in the Would you protect your country? contest. This is also the shortest poem I've written so far. And no, it wasn't done in Physics, it was done after school.Oh my country, Oh my country, How can I serve thee true? With fifty white stars upon a field of blue, And stripes of red and white intertwined; Land that's lasted just over two centuries. This land has turned to red, Just as Moses turned the waters red in Egypt to set the Hebrews free. This blood today is not my own, But of my fellow countrymen. Thou has shed thy blood for me, Shalt I not shed mine for thee? Oh my country, Oh my country, How can I serve thee true? © 2011 TexasAuthor's Note
