Our Fire

Our Fire

A Poem by TheTattooedPoet

Here in an instant.
Gone in the next.
How can a flame burn like an inferno,
Then die down to a flicker?
All it needs is one good spark to ignite it again but instead,
You keep trying to blow it out.
I turn myself into a wall,
Blocking your blows.
Trying to keep my little flicker alive
For as long as I can.
Frantically searching for the metaphorical sticks
To rub together...
But as I'm searching,
You sneak around me and when i go back to check,
Our fire's out.
Nothing but a thin, rising line of smoke remains.
You killed it.
And along with it,
Any chance of our happiness.
Leaving me to sit in the dark alone...
And cry....

a piognant write... love like love is worth fighting for...
the way you stood like a wall to protect what's your is inspiring...and brings a sense of pride and power to this piece....
however some battles are not decided by their outcomes..its about the way you fought them...

Ugh, you know, males are perpetually bad at doing that. I did that myself countless times and can't really explain why. Anyway, you did a great job of detailing everything through a consistent and appropriate metaphor. Very good.
