Just(Not)Me

Just(Not)Me

A Poem by DaveHRakkar

In the heart of the forest, where shadows play, A man wandered, lost, day by day. He gave her his essence, his soul laid bare, Hoping she'd notice, hoping she'd care.

He shared his stories, his dreams, his fears, Hoping she'd listen, wipe away his tears. But she saw him not as a man with a past, Just a shadow, fading fast.

In the forest's depths, he became a shade, His vibrant spirit slowly decayed. Yet the trees remember, the winds still sigh, Whispering tales of a love gone awry.

Farewell, dear heart, may you find your way, In the forest's embrace, where shadows play. Though you never saw the man I used to be, In the whispers of the woods, you'll remember me.

"Love is not about possession, but about appreciation."

Yes, I believe you're right, Dave. It takes an open heart (with its own wilderness) to truly love another, and their bruises.
This piece confesses that, I feel. with a form that echoes considered thought and feelings acknowledged.
