I wish you the best

I wish you the best

A Poem by Isaiah Dunn
"

A tired soul can only take so much

"

I never thought I’d get to the point where I would even consider letting you go.

That was until I met someone that understood just how deep the hole in my heart actually goes.

Not just some person telling me their opinion when they’ve never experienced a love like this.

But someone who truly understood what It meant to give a love that’s truly selfless.

A relationship is like a two-way road.

You can waste all your gas trying to get to the other person.

Or you can both use a little gas to meet in the middle.

For so long I’ve been driving the whole way to you.

Even though you’ve never even tried to meet me in the middle.

I ran out of gas years ago, but I got out and pushed my car even though it was killing me.

Just to get to you.

But I’m tired of pushing.

There’s no gas left.

I don’t know if this is goodbye.

I just wish you the best.

This is a beautiful poem. I loved the imagery of the car that is running to get to that one person of love and life. I did imagine a sunny and dusty road of tiresome journey. Isaiah, you have used absolute simplicity to demonstrate a hard truth about love and relationships experienced these days. When I try to describe such events in my writing I struggle to dwell on the simplistic aspects that you enlightened so well. This is a treat. Thanks for sharing!
