A Quick Thanks to God

A Quick Thanks to God

A Poem by Jazz Newport Green
"

I'm one who felt the desire to thank God for helping me out. So I wrote a poem to him. : )

"
I thank you,
For you have saved me.
You have brought me from the pit of distress.
I gave my heart to you long ago,
And now I shall give you my best.

I myself did doubt
that the yearning of my heart you'd notice;
And that you'd rescue me from the darkness of the light,
I did not know it.

My voice I shall raise to you,
For your name is great!
I am humbled by your kindness,
I shall speak of this in the gates.

I shall laud your name in times of darkness and distress,
I shall not forget your kindness,
or that to your mercies I owe my very breath.

I who have disowned you too many times in the past,
I cannot petition you,
For nothing shall I ask.
But this one honor I do seek: The privilege to laud your name,
The power to take pride in shame,
To not be beaten down in spirit,
The way they'd beat a man.
Please, my great father, my kindest friend
My strong arm whom is grasping my right hand,
Please oh loving One, for you help me take a stand.
