very quickly pieced together and a very simple lyrical piece.

You look amazing tonight.
Renaissance and birdsongs,
a star in the sky fitted in white.
I can’t believe it’s been so long.
You make the effort and I say
‘I’m feeling fine
and my heart’s not breaking.
I made this girl mine.
I think it’s the real thing’.

Your retort is that you’re glad.
My smile isn’t sincere enough for you.
Sunshine and banter that we both had,
it all comes back, running through
my troubled mind. But I say
‘I’m feeling fine

I think it’s the real thing’.

You look amazing tonight
and you know that I’m lying.
The nightclub turns on its lights
and we’ve given up trying.
We hug out goodbyes and I say

Ah, you have captured that feeling of when we see the old flame after we have moved on and are with the one we feel will last or perhaps say that to help our pride. There is always that tug at the heart and the questions that arise when we come face to face. This is very lyrical and could be a song.

thanks :) I find most of my pieces are quite lyrical because I write them to a tune in my head a lot of the time lol. I've began just accepting them as 'lyrical poetry' now.
