Wolves

hope it's not too soppy!!

When I look into your eyes I can see
colours reminiscent of the deepest and sunniest seas
and the shores rippling gently in the soft summer breeze.
I can see beauty in the wars of winter and spring
and in the ashes which the fire in my soul can bring.
When I hold your hand I can feel
the love of the heavens around each of life’s turns
and I know when life is over my heart will not burn
below the Earth with the ghosts who have haunted me.
It will be carried over those deepest and sunniest seas.
I can walk through the barbarous beasts with pride
and out-run the wild wolves with the Lord at my side.
When I kiss your lips I can find
that the pen in my hand can scribble down rigid words
to tell you of your marvel and to change the world.
The touch of your cheek will make God smile
as it feels like the waves caressing his finest isles.
And the wild wolves can’t hurt us this night.
Their words cannot land and their mouths cannot bite.

And with your love the ghosts will fade.

And with your love the wolves won’t chase.

And with your love the isles will glow.

And with your love my stalwart will show.

It will hold you close and will not let go.
