Blue Roses

Blue Roses

A Poem by TheJordBaker

Budding blue roses, the summer I dream.
The bitter breeze slows, the golden sun gleams.
As time begins to list, on a platform in a muse,
I’ll be waiting here for you, watching nascent blue.

Shattered by the seethe, I rest easily to sleep
and forget the days of crux and reverie.
Awakened by the flashing titian lights
on a subside one night in winter-tide.

Ardency adored, flushing to the pores
so strongly in the heat; so unlike before.
A scarlet heartbeat. All the blood I didn’t bleed
and tears I should have cried but didn’t need.

How the wild waves wind with resolve.
They flow with the stream as ardour evolves.
Blue of ocean and the sky, the blue of her eyes
the blue of the roses which bloom in solstice light.

Blue roses the symbol for love and prosperity…I’ve never been sure if the two things stand alone or if its prosperity in love. And funny enough blue roses don’t exist…not really…they’ve been made but don’t exist naturally in nature. I had all that in mind while reading so I saw it different. I see a person whose past he would gladly leave behind because it was nothing close to special, whose in the present may as well be dead because he’s too busy waiting on the future to live. The future is this bright hopeful idea in his mind and while he waits for that better time he is wasting his life. Maybe I read too much into it, but I love that I could!
“Shattered by the seethe, I rest easily to sleep
and forget the days of crux and reverie.”
…read those lines twice and I was sad to leave them behind. They are my favourites!!!
I’m glad I stopped by today Jb, will stick around a little :)

thanks Cord, I appreciate it.
my favorite color is blue...so this appealed to me...i like this...it gives a strong feeling of romance but also longing and sadness...

really like the use of slant rhyme in this.
