before you couldn’t.

while the door still let you through, 

before the heart snapped shut 

and locked you in. 

It’s good you left

before the walls between us fell, 

before we stood face to face 

with nowhere to look 

but into each other’s eyes. 

It’s good you left 

when you did- 

because the words were thinning out, 

and soon, we would have had 

no choice but to kiss. 

And you knew- 

if we kissed, 

we’d never ever stop. 

So yes, it’s good you left 

when you did.
