Love And Life...

Love And Life...

A Poem by DIVYA

“I’ll love you forever,”

said Love.

Life smiled.

“I’ll never leave you,”

Love vowed.

Life softly giggled.

“I’ll fight you on this,”

Love warned.

Life watched.

“I’m done. I’m gone.

I won’t return,”

Love snapped -

and slammed the door.

Life laughed

and laughed,

and kept laughing.

Love, like happiness, is a fleeting thing.

I was once asked if happiness is important to me … I answered, "It's not important that I'm happy, but it's extremely important that I'm not unhappy."
And, I still feel this way, because I know that happiness and love are like the tide, they ebb and flow, intensify and subside … worst of all is being unhappy and without love.

How very sadly true your worldly-wise poetical words play with a heart that well-knows the unhappy pain of life without love.

How sentimentally warm (in contrast) the painting feels, Dear Divya, and (of course) your title's allure and exemplary poetic skill is second to none … as are your grammatical punctuation and presentation also especially well done.

With a hug of gratitude 'n sunny wishes for happiness! ⁓ Richard🖌

Thank you so much, dear Thomas.
You've returned! Just as I knew you would...never having missed a beat. Your voice as the lead gave this great bravado. I wanted to stand up and cheer. So good to see you, Divya!!

Thank you so much for such a great review!
Love's transient and one could argue that life is just so, given that no individual life is forever, but that aside...life continues on and on and on... And then love, too,
It always finds a way back into life in one shape or another. It's like a wayward child, seeking against its parent's wisdom and warning to do things its own way on its own terms and convenience... But in that respect, it's exactly like life. Learning from hands on experience and maturing accordingly.

Nicely written piece.
