Emily loved that word, "My tippet, my tulle" she used in "because I could not stop for death"
I like how you make the search for a dress appear like a search for a lover, a mate.
The dress is personified so wonderfully yere.
The last two lines a perfect ending.

Without doubt, this is the most beautiful poem I've ever read … it simply touches every gently romantic fibre of my bardic being.
What it lacks in iambic meter is more than compensated for in every line of enthralling metaphorical magic, satiny flowing diction, enthralling emotion, and perfection of rhyme.
For this one, you filled your golden pen with sparkling stardusted ink and genuinely opened the gates of your poetic heart, mind, and soul, to gift the world a treasure tangibly rare and unforgettable.
Then, your artwork choices set the atmosphere softly aglow.
Not to wear your eyes out this time with exuberance, but let me say that every line is a poetic masterpiece; yet, these literally embraced my senses:
"Each stitch of this dress must be a strong vow
Yet tender as buds when they wake at dawn
Its tulle of stars must light up my brow
Under a veil more demure than a swan"
Thank you ever-so warmly, Dear Poetess ⁓ Richard🖌

You've so truly elevated this sonnet and given it love and appreciation beyond what it humbly deserves. I had enjoyed composing this poem, last Friday evening and I had never imagined the wonderful reception it would get from you and other esteemed poets here. Thanks for loving the verse, flow and emotion and the verse you liked best. As for iambic pentameter, perhaps, some day we could anaesthetise the poem and do some cosmetic surgery on it.
Just a matter of having some extra time, some day. Your interest in this bridal sonnet has me thrilled! Thanks and thanks again! 🙏💐

Divya,
I remember Barbara's smile beneath her veil as she walked the aisle toward me... I have no memory of that dress or where it went, but that smile in that place and that time is eternal.

Such a beautiful comment on this poem! Ultimately, all that remained was her smile....The true essence of that day! Thank you so much for making this poem worth writing!
Oh, you brought me to a most beautiful place while I read this! I remember when I found my wedding dress -- the one pictured in my avatar -- and all the feelings that came with it when I tried it on for the very first time. You feel like an almost elevated version of yourself, if I may sound egotistical! I remember when I put it on, and my sister, who was my maid of honor, adjusted my veil. I stared at myself in the mirror for a good while and whispered "is that me?" and she sort of had this smile that said "yes, yes it is."
I was lucky enough that I never put such emphasis on my dress -- I mean, I knew what I wanted, but it rolled off my back if the specifics were a little different. I mean, for goodness sake, I bought my dress off of Etsy for 700 dollars, I didnt feel the need to spend thousands and thousands on a garment I would more than likely only wear once. That being said, I understand the fever, the hunger, the desire to meld with that elevated self and like what you see. I have personally never watched the show given its less-than-stellar reputation, but I dont judge who do, and I certainly dont judge the brides who find it so important to love their dress.
You captured that feeling so perfectly, if not a little comical if you read it in the voice of a Bridezilla. I personally read it more like a prayer, a song of hope, as opposed to a demand. It feels light, airy, and like the reader can slip right into it and wear your words as their own. So beautiful, and personally relatable, and I appreciate your sharing!!

Thank you so much for such an in-depth review and kind words of appreciation for this poem. Sitting here in India, I often watch this show in perfect awe when brides to be shriek in delight, weep in ecstasy and sometimes go ballistic over wedding dresses ranging from the ridiculous to the most exquisite. It's worth the price if it means so much to one and brings such sheer joy. Having said that, all the fuss sometimes makes one wonder what a wedding day is really all about. Perhaps, its the sentimental value, a kind of coming of age thing. Its a very interesting subject, one that invites such thought and discussion. Thanks again and my warmest regards to you!
The dress a beautiful symbol for undying love. Such wonderful rich imagery in this very lovely sonnet Divya. A fine composition and thoroughly enjoyed. Happy Sunday dear friend.

I think the dress is the symbol of a relationship, one that will last "forever." Each stitch of it must be "a strong vow," and the dress must not ever fade. Tall order there, but hold out. It just might be.
