Notes To A Son

Notes To A Son

A Poem by DIVYA

My soul,
My happy whole,
My smile, My sun

My air, My care,

My rabbit,
My little one.

My twinkling friend,

My leader,
My lamp till the end.

My lucent pearl,

My storyteller,

My clever counsellor,

The apple of my eye.
My balance,
My ground, My sky.

My jester,
My clown,
My most radiant noun.
My splendid boy.
My bubbling joy,

My walker,
My talker,
The voice I wait for all day.
My dancing kid
My holiday.

My son,
My precious oil,
My contentment in toil.
My comfort in pain,
My angel.
My singing fountain.
My health,
My gold,

My wealth untold
My orchard,
My fruit,
My blessing absolute.
My magic,
My windfall, My all.

My conversion.

My nicest version,
My tribe,
My coolest ever vibe.

My kith,
My kin,
I shield by my
bone and skin.

My son,
My beating heart,
My truly worthwhile part.
My reason profound.
My devotion
beyond bound,
In sickness or strife
My purest
connection to life.

The one I’ll watch
from my grave,
Whose company
I’ll always crave.
The one I’ll reach,
No matter
how far

My son,
My ship,

My star

And………your Portugal conquering Vasco Da Gama? Probably soon.

Quite a brisk read considering its length and endless compliments compiled on the subject, who no doubt, stands as the brightest star in your universe (Thanks a lot, Champ!)

I am sure your affection is well understood and reciprocated in kind. Just pray that the ghost of Queen Isabella doesn’t make a timely appearance, because then you might just be relegated to the bench like most of us!

An affectionate expression of love and one’s importance.

Dear Divya
That is a ton of love! and should be for all of us who have kids... they thrive with our love... they make us smile, laugh, proud, content, joyful, sometimes even sad, but there are no words to describe the relationship between parent and child....it's forever a special bond...
LOVE THIS!
Warmly, B

There isn't a love more precious than that of a mother for her child. You've captured it beyond definition. My heart is certain of it!

Hey there DIVYA,

Like a love letter written with a thousand lanterns, each metaphor lighting a part of your soul that he carries. You did not just write about your son, you became the language, the rhythm, the breath of that bond. The repetition builds like a prayer, and by the final stanza, I felt I was witnessing not just motherhood, but myth-making. "My tribe, My coolest ever vibe", like WOW! that's genius! Thank you for gifting us this constellation of devotion.

This poem oozes maternal love and pride DIVYA. No mistaking here what this son means. He is held in the highest of all affection. Surely placed on the tallest pedestal. Loving and overflowing. Lovely.

Just amazed by how you put all your love into words. And I believe that you wish you could write more and more on how much he means to you.

Truly amazing!

Thank you so much, dear Thomas.
I don't think I've ever read such an encomium. It dwarfs Handel's Messiah.

Gosh, Divya! ☀️💖🔆

What could be more enduring or endearing than a Mother's love and devotion to and for her Child? It's an answer I do not have.
Bless You and your Son for the great fortune to have each other to share this amazingly complex world together, in all of life's endless abundance of lessons and adventures to come.

Poetically speaking, I'm awed by the manner in which you've taken the Skeltonic Verse form and literally made it your own passionate profession of motherhood and pledged chronology to your past, present, and historically eternal future … never, have I been privileged to such a blissfully-laid poetic avowal and declaration to two spiritually, ethereally bonded minds, hearts, and souls.

I bow in deepest regard, respect, and awe, Dear Divya … not only for such enthralling love and devotion expressed for your Son, but for the skill it took to so candidly, openly, and honestly convey it through the magic of poetry.

You're nothing, if not "Endearingly Special."
And, I'm so proud to know You! ⁓ Richard 🙏

Every line radiates deep affection and awe. It feels like a mother’s entire universe wrapped in words. Simple, sincere, and stunning.
