The Same S**t

The Same S**t

A Poem by DIVYA
"

Is it any different?

"

Its life doing its thing, as always.
Mountains kiss dust. Poles reassemble.

Birds find new flight paths.
Rivers go up in smoke. Frogs migrate.

Fishes rot in sticky mud banks.
Ships retire in junkyards.

Or rest in pieces on pitch ocean beds.
The rats would have long swum away by then.

Found new homes to forage.
The homes end. They're on the move again.
And so the cycle of fleeing, flying,

finding goes on, ad infinitum.
If its the same s**t, yet another day,

I'm happy doing it where I am.

Interesting viewpoint here, D. True, everything seems to be the same old same old, day after day, but I wonder if that's because we view it from the surface level of consciousness continually. Seen from a higher level, even the most mundane things might show us profound differences.

This is quite a “ down and out” piece my dear friend… I hope you’re not seeing life this way, but if you are, then you have every write to say what’s on your mind; I just worry about your mood theses days ; I want you to know I’m with you all the way, I support you and and believe in you as a friend and a great poet!

It wasn't until people started leaving that suddenly Charlie decided to fix a few things. I'm happy on the new site being the mod is much more responsible and caring. If you need something she's right there. I can't say the same for WC. I'll still post here once in a while but I lost my faith in the stability of this place. Your metaphor is great for your message though. You never post anything bad. :)

Wow! What got into you? A bad day, a bad month? I do so agree with your last line: I’m happy doing it where I am. Some of your lines completely elude me; I have never experienced rivers going up in smoke, but have surely seen them blanketed with fog. I am completely befuddled by Poles reassemble. I do love what I perceive to be the overall message or theme of the poem. Homes end, they’re on the move again, and so the cycle of fleeing, flying, finding goes on…..It strikes me that is the root cause of so much human conflict. Whether through drought, disease, civil war, etc., etc. humans have had to abandon home and migrate, often into another community’s, another nation’s, another race’s perceived space….then war erupts. Despite not getting every line, I do like your poem, and I wonder what inspired you. Is there an interesting story there?

Yes, its very interesting. I read somewhere that the poles reverse every few millenia.
I love the way this jumps from rivers to rats to rotting fish. It’s chaotic but in a totally captivating way. The cycle of life feels endless, messy, and real, and I love that you end on a note of simple contentment. Feels honest and alive. Great write!

Yes an exodus, yet reluctant me. This place will always be home, the place I return to. Sometimes I like to travel, but I always return home particularly when the going gets tough. Meaningful words dear DIVYA.

I like this poem, it is clever. And I admire your tenacity...it has just gone awry too many times for me and much too long this last time.

I will still poke my head in here.

You'll be missed my friend. Sad to see you go.
An exodus may well be in progress, but I will remain here for as long as the WC allows. I transitioned here from "The Starlite Cafe" in 2008, when they were pretty much in the process of closing. I have joined the "Stars Rite" venue to have that soft place to land, in the event the WC does close. Until that day, I will remain here in the "home" it has been to me for eighteen years, and weather whatever comes our way. That's my promise to you, Divya...and the WC!

Absolutely relate to this poem. Everything seems monotonous and mechanical. The repeated schedule sustains some lives and deteriorates others. Beautifully penned.
