Revenge
What is revenge to you?
Is it the kill of a mosquito"
that tiny thief who sucked your blood?
Or the wound you carve into someone’s heart
who wronged you once?
Some say the best revenge is to forgive"
to release, to move on.
But I like this play with words,
this back and forth we dance with,
where each word becomes a weapon,
each meaning a turn,
a counterstrike,
a loss,
a gain.
We circle around the truth,
never quite landing,
never quite still.
For what is revenge
if not the desire to see it all undone,
to rewrite the past
with the ink of the present?
And what is forgiveness
if not a form of mercy
with its own silent revenge?
