Visibility

Visibility

A Poem by Thomas Emile Vaughen
"

A short poem exploring the conflict between wanting to make the most of the modern/digital world whilst wanting to maintain a degree of privacy and autonomy.

"
Somehow, someway, we
manage to stay
in .our. land
of shadows
Where sunlight ceases
to reach, us
and seldom
do strangers
see .us.
What are we, miscreants
vagabonds; really?
Out of sight
and out of sync
Menacing
So their implied
agency - they
think for .our.
secret world
A malignancy
Visibility

Such a crucial
feature of
a          transparent
society
Our land of
shadows, but
for how long?
When .we. face
the charge of
digital degeneracy,
deviancy
We might as well
be faceless...
to /them/
