A Poem by Thomas Emile Vaughen

Lioness -
there & always have been
Caring & always have been
There has never been a storm
that you have not swatted away
with an umbrella Never a fall,
I've found, which you couldn't
conceal with a plaster
When I reflect upon
the warmth with which
you put us first,
how giving became gave
and gave became giving...
the marathon of your
Motherly love
How do I ever make
the concessions to match your own?

It is only within my power
to walk the pathway you
put under me, to the pinnacles
you dreampt up for me
Realising that I repay you
when I show kindness to a stranger.
Recognising that I do you justice
when I am a force for justice,
a force for what is right in the world.

This not a poem
This an essay
An I love you An Always.
