Halfeti Rose

Halfeti Rose

A Poem by Thomas Emile Vaughen

Pupil rose, black
Where the Euphrates flows
Swallowed into night's dark ecstasy
By Halfeti, you wait for me
Hands are buds,
blessings, creeping
to the silent skin
I only grow where you are
No other nectar to nourish,
girl to cherish

I am here
in Halfeti
