Portraits from the Courtroom

Portraits from the Courtroom

A Poem by Thomas Emile Vaughen

Sketchbook fulla scumbags
that someone has to draw. To paint the
guilty figures, their tragedy in lore.
How I've rendered evil into shades of beige
and grey; horrors in officialdom,
tragedies into tape.

The legal process is kinda queer, if you'll
forgive my politically incorrect term.
Put beasts in suits and let them speak
their deplorable little monologues, tongues
of sin, I'm sketchin' in
the horns and chin
- Satan's chosen few.
