this is a sad tale and reminds me of some one moving away. the summer snow brings in the cold feeling that it leaves in the heart and gives a clear picture to the feelings. the flow was done wonderfully and the imagery fits this sad tale of losing someone.
The hands of time are brutal craftsmen building things which never last on shifting sand...but memories stay long after excitement and youth have fled. So I think it is a double-edged sword cutting both ways. Always a pleasure to read your words Tommy.
Breathtaking Tommy, love! Absolutely breathtaking! The moment of chance, the moment of swift change.....gone and when it is - the whirlpool afterwards.......simply put, your work is amazing! xx
Tommy after the devastation in the South recently this makes me think of those who lost their lives in the cold blink of the eye..
Wonderfully written ..sad and lonely feeling ..
Love it.
I liked this, its made me think about how we don't know what we've got until it has gone, and though it was sad, the truth in it with all its frustrations made me feel, I was reading something that I knew but my mind had never verbalised. Thankyou.
When I was young and the family would go on vacation every year it never failed that I would meet the most amazing girl and those one or two weeks were like magic but it always ended too soon. Your poem reminds me of those summers. Nice write.
Summertime is meant for warmth and natural gratification but internally, it is as if you are frigid as ice, forsaken in the loss of a loved one. “like summer snow, we never had a chance, and in a cold blink of an eye, she was gone...” Beautiful.
I loved this poem. It's so poignant, really underscoring how unnatural loss can be. The symbolism of the snow is, itself, intense, being a blanket that smothers and yet also showing winter, with the attendent death of something well-established. The lack of resolve is resonant. The language is simple and direct adding to the emotive immediacy, as do the interjections in italics. A brilliant poem.
