Little Toast

Little Toast

A Poem by ThreeWrites

God made night time for sleeping, and day for drinking,

I know your eyes are still open, you’re peaking.

When you should be doing nothing more than dreaming.

I know it’s hard to fall asleep, with all this thinking,

It doesn’t help that seeing is believing.

Best get some rest, that is of course, if there’s no screaming.

Liquor helps you get rest, no I ain’t winking,

I’m just saying something, not giving.

A good nights rest is apart of winning, but if you’re having trouble sleeping, remember it’s apart of living.

If you’re keeping yourself from rest, you’re just being stingy,

If you don’t sleep, you’ll end up grinchy,

Stealing from others good night sleep, as you’re quietly creeping.

Making it difficult to attend the morning meeting,

All because you don’t know how to sleep, and get back to dreaming, naturally after some late night drinking.

Eesh, ain't that the truth. For me, I never used to get enough sleep. Now, as a somewhat functioning adult, sleep is like a lavender kiss from life. I enjoyed this piece :)
