"

Lights off. Night light on.
That’s my desperate attempt
To interrupt the darkness
Before it buries me into a deep sleep.
When it comes crawling over me,
It aims to stab me where it hurts the most.
After it shadows over my impaired heart,
It sharpens until I am penetrated.
It does not stop until it has drilled through completely.

Suddenly, my eyes fly open.
I see the night light.
But why does it still feel so somber?

We can put off the feelings of the heart with the activities of the day....but given silence and darkness they always reappear.
