Cold

Cold

A Poem by Tina Kline

Cold
yes, I'm so cold
wandering
toward the end
waiting there
so cold
as is the world that doesn't care

like a winter night
like an abandoned grave
I'm cold
winter lingers
the night is empty
as I wander
into a frightful eternity

lost on winter dark streets
as cold as death
as cold as the end
the last page of my life book
I must turn
The End

I fall
off the map of my life
no longer even remotely connecting
I drop the book
does anyone even care?
I don't know
for I am no longer there

"the book carelessly left open, the phone off the hook"

words sexton wrote when plath committed suicide....the world is so cold and i reflect on that poem when reading this one...extremely well worded...that feeling that overcomes us, and life just freezes right out of us. that will to live stumbles.

the world around us contains no warmth.

I felt cold reading this. You come across to me as a well written goth poet. Another good read of yours.

Very very sad. Makes me feel like someone is dying or thinking about suicide. The whole poem converys that sadness that leaves a person cold inside. Cold inside and cold outside. A powerful poem, very compelling.

Thank you.....!
a chilling poem ( in every sense ) to prepare us for the days ahead. Like the way this concentrates on the theme, never drifts off, and is consistent in its imagery, well done.

Thanks so much.
It is a horrible feeling when we feel as if the world is like an ice castle around us. We must have the warmth of love to feel as if we belong. Your words are chilling and achieves the feeling of loss and abandonment of one who regards life as no longer worth holding onto. Very well done Tina! - and the image certainly matches the coldness of your words!
