Lingering Shadows Haunting

Lingering Shadows Haunting

A Poem by Tina Kline

Lingering shadows haunting
fear draws long into the night
alone and crying

Why? Such lonely questions
is there any hope
an ending to this hurtful situation?

The cloaked figure comes knocking
no keeping it away
for like a long dark shadow
it is there beckoning

Do not look to its face
avoid its chilling eyes
get in the boat and pay your fare
for the ferryman has come to give you a ride
across the River Styx
across to the other side

Did you even realize
that you had died?

Thanks very much.
A very intense and chilling write.
It held me captive in its dark painful grip.
You're a talented writer.

A strong dark horror poem. I felt pulled in deeply by your words. I don't know, maybe sometimes those who have died just don't know it. How frightful!
