Stare Deep Into The Abyss

Stare Deep Into The Abyss

A Poem by Tina Kline

Stare deep into the abyss long enough

the abyss will stare back at you

capture you, heart and soul

feathery wings unfurl

the dark angels

rise up to strike them down

those who offer disbelief

corruption and immorality

the sick of soul

winging up from the darkest deep

they are bold and unhappy

they strike and kill

the foolish ones

who go where they ought not

they defy and offer resistance

rebellion

the dark angels come to feast

on their heart and souls

and toss them into Hell's fiery pit

and laugh

and laugh some more

successful children

to their dark lord and master

Lucifer

The Arch Angel

The Morning Star

I liked this from the first line, and became more endeared as it unfolded.
I have peered into the abyss of lost souls.
Reached to help those clinging to the rim.
They would each rather plunge downward when recognizing my countenance.
Their disparity tore at me heart.
My Lord beckoned me away from the pit saying, "Take my hand."
"They would not let me help them," said I.
"They refused to take my hand too. Now I extend it to you. Come with me, away from this mournful place."
I did so without reservation.
From this I know, that you know him too.

Very dark and painfully haunting. Do we fear our souls being lost? Some of us.
Well written and impressive stuff.
