For God so loved the world that He gave up His only begotten Son so that whoever should believe in Him would never perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
I walked toward the Light The place it shone down Silence faded away I heard crying all around
I saw first the cross I saw the man nailed there I saw His blood, their tears Of the divine I became aware
The light shone, I cried I saw Him raise His head to look at me I felt the burning deep inside I stood there, I would not flee
I felt cleansed, I felt healed I dropped to my knees and cried I prayed like I never had before I wept with the others when He died
The Light faded I stood alone Forever changed was I The Fire burned in me forevermore Now I knew why I was alive
I agree with Damien Thibodeaux. The feelings in this poem are exquisite, very uplifting and a real sign of versatility in your creativity. Great read.
I like the gentle rhyme you have going also, like the form. Also I counted the use of 'I'. It appears 3 times in verse one and by the time we get to verse four it appears 6 times, making verse fours seem the most intense in the poem. Verse five is like a gentle wind down.
