IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BLOOD

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BLOOD

A Story by Tina Kline
"

A short vampire tale that takes place in Seattle, Washington.

"

Brandon, Saipan and Ariel were hanging out at the base of the Space Needle. Each vampire sipped chilled Chardonnay from plastic wineglasses. It was a cold Seattle night. The humans wandering about were dressed for the weather huddled within their winter coats, wearing stocking hats, gloves, scarves and boots.  The three vampires weren't bothered by the chill but dressed accordingly. They didn't want to stand out by not dressing for winter. One thing they didn't need was drawing unwanted human attention to themselves

The vampires watched the humans going by with their cold blood hungry stares.

Brandon took a sip of his Chardonnay, “I wish I could just live on this stuff alone. Ambrosia. It's better than human blood”

Ariel gave him a fangy grin. She had very white skin, long straight black hair, colorless eyes except for the black pupils and always wore Old Navy and Calvin Klein clothing. This night was no different. “We're vampires. Not gods, so the food of the gods won't keep us alive.”

“Just the stuff of life...human blood.” Saipan said, his almond shaped brown eyes twinkling.   “We were once human and its human blood that we need to keep these bodies of ours going. I know that's unwelcome news for you Brandon” He teased.

“Maybe we ought to be gods to the humans. We could easily do it, us Immortals.” Brandon said. “Rule over their tiny little lives. Make the world a better place for all.”

Ariel nodded, “We could but if we did we'd end up with a lot more enemies than we have now. Like Vampire Hunters. They bug us now. If we became gods to the humans there would be a lot more of them. They are rare and far between now. You know how humans are. Let's keep it that way.”

Brandon chuckled. His tangly shoulder length brown hair was becoming more tangled in the cold breeze, He didn't really want to become a god over the humans of the world. How boring and troublesome that would be. “Well, let's pick out our meals. The wine is almost gone.” He emptied his plastic wine glass and sighed with pleasure. Ambrosia, he thought.

Ariel finished her glass and so did Saipan. They tossed them into a nearby trash container. Brandon did the same with his.

“So.” said Ariel, rubbing her white hands together looking over the smorgasbord of human choices for her nightly blood meal. “Sooo.” She spotted a young male. Probably 18 to 20 years of age. She purred. He did look yummy.

Saipan picked out his meal, a young thin teenager. Brandon picked out his choice for tonight’s blood meal too.

“So, lets go. I'm hungry.” Brandon said, heading off.

Their soon to be meals were on the move, going in the same direction but at different rates of speed. They didn't realize that three vampires were following behind them, stalking them. The humans had no chance now.

Using Mind Compulsion they led their prey away from Seattle Center. Across Broad Street. They crossed 5th N and led their meals out of human eye sight. Once they were concealed in the dark shadows they fed on their human meals, sinking their upper and lower fangs into their throats, siphoning the blood out of them and swallowing it in great warm tasty gulps. Using Mind Compulsion each vampire put it into their prey's mind that they were enjoying what was happening, that it felt sooo good. Their prey moaned softly as did the vampires as they drank their prey's life force.

The humans died in intense pleasure. The three vampires were fed and felt so alive and vital once more. Each vampire let their now finished human meals fall to the pavement. The dead bodies hit with a dull thud.

“That was good.” Saipan said, wiping the blood from around his mouth.

“Yum yummy.” Ariel agreed, being more delicate at cleaning her mouth than Saipan.

Yes. Warm, living fresh blood. Almost as good as chilled Chardonnay.” Brandon said.

They walked away from the dead bodies, knowing a couple werewolves in Wolf Form were waiting to eat the bodies. They'd eat it all.

“Now what to do?” Saipan asked.

“We have all the rest of the night to have fun and play.” Ariel said.

“Hmm. Let's spend the time hunting...stalking a few humans. Terrorize them. Put the fear of death in them. We haven't done that for a while.” Brandon suggested.

“Yes.” Ariel put her hands together. “We can head for Pike Place. I'm sure it's busy with all the humans shopping. That's all humans do. Buying stuff is their favorite pass time.”

“A okay. Pike Place it is.” agreed Brandon.

We can have snacks too while we're enjoying ourselves.” Ariel said.

“Yeah. I like this idea a lot.” Saipan said.

“Do we walk there or take my car?” Brandon asked his two companions.

     “Drive.” Ariel said.

     “We could fly.” Saipan said.

“Let's go in Brandon's car.” insisted Ariel.

“We'll take my Mustang.” Brandon said.

They changed their direction and headed toward where Brandon had his 1968 Mustang parked. The night was young and the three vampires would enjoy the rest of it. How could they not? Seattle was full of humans to feed on and terrorize for pure enjoyment.

Eerie tale of vampires living in Seattle and terrorizing humans for food and fun. This is no the gentle vamps of twilight or vampire diaries, though there are some bad ones there. Nice realistic tale of vampires were true. Or maybe they are. Eeks! I kinda like the scary ones better than the tame ones bellyaching about how they want to be human again so they can age, get sick and die and loose all the reason they wasted to be human.

An awesome tale of the Seattle vampires. I sure enjoy these stories. Strong characters who don't feel guilty for being vampires and doing what vampires must do to live. Overall, a fun horror story to read.
