Death HauntingA Poem by Tina KlineThis is a collaboration with Ghost. The Jack-o’-lantern sat unlit on the front porch A tendril of fog coiled around it like a caressing vine In the distance came the sound of a dog’s eerie bark From inside echoed the Grandfather clock’s hourly chime
Something grayish and wispy floated up the street From its lofty tree top perch a large dark bird snapped its beak The misty form came to a halt in front of one certain house Its high pitched cry of success sounded nightmarish and bleak
He had found his beautiful childhood home And his life in the land of the dead decayed Now he shall haunt the family within Send a chill into their souls like a blade
He passed through the front door with glee The family within froze in shocked fear He spoke in a voice blacker than death “Get out or your blood will bubble and sear!”
The air in the house grew thick and corrosive To breathe it in was to breathe in death Choking and stumbling the family attempted to leave But they took too long, for then there was nothing left
The grey wispy spectre let out a dark laugh His childhood home was finally his again, forever The Jack-o’-lantern on the front porch he sparked to dark life On All Hallow’s Eve the living feel the dead breath of each dead creature
