City Of Roses

City Of Roses

A Poem by Tina Kline

The City Of Roses

(Portland, Oregon)

A city landscape

urban paradise

two volcanoes* watching

brooding away the years

civilization rises in their shadow

teeming with life

man made wilderness

cement column forests

roads unfurling in every direction

pavement endlessly unfolding

glass and concrete buildings rise

the skyline undergoes constant change

cars and trucks in continuous motion

airplanes criss crossing the sky

a city landscape

with a beauty all its own

this city beside the rivers*

many have called it home

*Two Volcanoes: Mt. Hood & Mt. St. Helen's

*The Columbia River and the Willamette River

You should do service ads for their tourist board... very crisp and concise description.
