The Darkness Is WaitingA Poem by Tina KlineThere’s a difference in the night Here whispers scatter upon the walls Darkness has a face and has eyes Hear its raspy voice as it calls Feel the fear travel up your spine Feel the fear crawl across your skin A way out of this darkness you won’t find There’s a big difference after dark When your eyes just can’t see as well They are there just waiting for you They plan on taking you to their hell Run if you must, hide if you can They are out there to take you down Coming to steal away your very breath You’ll go below without any protest or sound They are waiting, yes, they are waiting The darkness has patience for this hunt If the whispers come to you late at night Know your time here now is very short Know you won’t wake to the morning’s light
