Child Of Fantasy

Child Of Fantasy

A Poem by Tina Kline

Her wings were downy and so soft
Each silky feather the shade of ivory
Shadows made them seem black as night
Some thought her wings were ebony

She liked to say she belonged to a Secret Society
I told her I thought she was lying to me
She liked to twist the truth a little too much
She liked to say why not believe in fantasy

We wandered through a meadow of giant leafy ferns
Beaded moisture dripped from their coiled pointy tips
It was hot but she managed to still be so beautiful
With her I felt like I was on some fantastic trip

Her words created a soothing content within me
Leaving me hungry for so much more
She was a dream that didn't exist in my world
All too soon I ended up alone at my front door

Left alone I felt cruelly abandoned by her
I was in a state of despair desperately wanting her to return
I was sick with a painful need that was never to be fulfilled
Any lesson here was one I knew I'd never be able to learn

The tender and painful feelings of longing. This is beautiful yet heartbreaking as well.

Your words here create a very beautiful vision. It's all so very captivating. Nicely done.
