Winter's False Beauty

Winter's False Beauty

A Poem by Tina Kline

Wandering through the forest
Trees casting long shadows in winter's sun
A coldness creeps silently in
And when another icy gust has begun
Arrives winter's cruel biting wind

The sun peaks through at dawn
There's that stunning loveliness again
The scent of decay where nothing living is left
It wafts and coils about with an ominous end
Creating a wintery graveyard of certain death

Winter can seem like a death. Some places need cold weathers for the apples and potatoes to grow. Need cold weather to kill the bugs and allow the soil to heal. I like your description and story in the poem. A strong ending to a excellent poem.

Beautiful and sinister. The forest is both in winter. I love this!

Yes, winter is beautiful but there is a dark side to it. The coldness, lack of food, making survival hard, especially in the past. Yes, who can deny that winter is beautiful? I enjoyed your poem a lot.

The energy rising up from the graveyard. You created a mystical zombie scene of peace.
