The Fabulous Mountain

The Fabulous Mountain

A Poem by Tina Kline

My eyes rise skyward

in awe of what I behold

a snow capped mountain sweeping high

wild jagged peaks

breathtaking beauty

a cliche that works here

wild dark green Douglas Fir trees

marching for miles and miles

right up to the timberline

I see the American Eagles soaring

I hear the wolves howling

the elk and the white tail deer

move through the endless foliage

rivers rushing through this wild place

meandering their way down to the waiting Pacific Ocean

this wild place

who would ever want to leave

my eyes seem unable to look away

at least for now

maybe forever

behold the fabulous Mt. Hood

watching over Portland, Oregon

those who view it

have understood

I love Mt. Hood, Lost Lake, Timberline Lodge and just the rugged wild beauty of the mountain and its surrounding forests. All sorts of fun can be had there and much more....Superb poem.
